This place was amazing. Not just because it was full of candy from floor to ceiling, or because it was all garish and cheap, but because they did every variety of sweets that I bought from Woolworths on my way home from school, which you can't get any more. I splurged on chocolate bars for friends, baseball cards, comics, and all the old favorites like nerds, dweebs, gold mines (gold nugget bubble gum in a little sack), push pops and popping candy. Well on the way to type 2 diabetes.
My battery charger failed me after a week in New York so I relied on borrowing other people's cameras, my medium format camera and buying disposable cameras. It was quite nice to go back to the humble disposable camera. I normally take one on holiday because the photos end up looking really good, especially in bright light, colours just look so much better. It's also a nice halfway point between digital (where you take photos of everything and anything because it's free) and the medium format (where I usually agonise over taking a photo because I know I only have 16 and how much it will cost to develop). Anyway, here are a couple of shots from two disposable cameras. I know they're a bit rubbish but I think they look great!
So I'm back from my travels with the task of now catching up my blog. Luckily I filled a thick travel journal while I was there so I can remember it all! I also got some photos developed yesterday so I have something half decent to show! I guess I had better start from the beginning if I can. These are a couple of photos from out 4th July celebrations at Ling Beach. In the middle photo are the lovely ladies I went to New York with: Chloe, Millie and Claire.
Wow, I'm finally home after 2 months! I've just spent about 2 hours editing and sorting out my photos and now I have the daunting task of updating my blog and catching up with my emails...
